Send to mobile money and banks across Africa from one wallet

Paying a supplier in Kampala, settling a contractor in Lagos or refunding a customer in Dar es Salaam used to mean a separate remittance service, a separate login, and an exchange rate you found out about after the money had gone.

FinoQ puts it in the same wallet you already use for local payments.

One wallet, many countries

From your FinoQ wallet you can send money to:

  • mobile money in the countries our regulated partners serve,
  • bank accounts in those same countries.

You pick the recipient’s country first. FinoQ then shows the payout methods available there, mobile money, bank, or both, and the networks or banks you can send to. You do not need to know in advance what is supported where.

How it works

  1. Open Send money and choose International.
  2. Pick the recipient’s country.
  3. Choose mobile money or bank.
  4. Pick the network or bank, and enter the phone number or account number.
  5. Review the amount, then approve with your FinoQ PIN.

Phone numbers are formatted for the destination country automatically, so a local number is sent with the right dialling code.

Names checked first

Cross-border mistakes are harder to undo than local ones. So recipients are verified before the money moves, and bank payouts carry the account holder’s name. The person on the other end is the person you meant.

Not just for Kenyan businesses

FinoQ accounts can hold currencies other than the Kenyan shilling. If your business runs in another market, you can:

  • deposit into your wallet from your own mobile money account,
  • pay out to mobile money and banks locally and across the region,
  • transfer between accounts in your organization.

The dashboard, the API and the PIN approval work the same way whichever currency your account is in.

Through regulated partners

FinoQ does not hold your money or act as a bank. Cross-border payments are routed through regulated partners who are licensed to move money in each market. We connect to them, so you do not have to sign up with each one separately.

Who uses it

  • Importers and traders paying suppliers in neighbouring countries.
  • Platforms with agents, drivers or sellers in more than one market.
  • Service businesses paying freelancers and contractors across the region.
